It can mean just one drop in the bucket of "saving the world."
Good thing there are also closer to home and immediate payoffs in cycling, like saving money on gas.
The pocketbook; now that's a motivator to start cycling.
One's pocketbook. One can control that.
Saving the world is virtuous, however. There just needs to be a more powerful motivator.
There's the health benefits of cycling, also the enjoyment. Things that don't rely on the whole world being saved before there's a payoff for the individual.
There's the sex appeal also.
Sex appeal is used to sell cars. Why not promote bicycling lifestyles that way?
June is the month that lots of naked bike rides take place; especially in large cities. Vancouver, BC and Seattle have interesting WNBR rides that bring images and stories to the net.
If it can get people laughing, talking and enjoying, it's worthwhile.
Maybe that publicity will motivate more folks to start riding. It happens each year; recent years at least.
