It seems like the biggest hurdle, for electric vehicles, is the battery. It's still better than gasoline, but it has its problems of cost, chemicals, weight and so forth.
Battery technology can improve, but in the meantime I still like Seattle's electric buses that run from overhead wires connected to the power grid. No need for the battery. Yes, the bus has to be attached to a wire system. Eventually, private cars could be attached to a road based charging system, so I read.
Still, I got to thinking about the concept of attached, versus detached. Attached trolly buses are more economically viable in areas where there are less detached single family homes. This relates to density.
Detached homes are usually less efficient for heating and cooling as well. Detached homes lead to more detached vehicles. I connect the dots.
